As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our service department, managing a team of technicians who work on a wide range of public works, municipal, and environmental equipment. You’ll ensure quality repair and maintenance, support professional development of your team, and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal departments. You will also be responsible for dispatching our mobile service trucks daily to ensure timely and efficient on-site service.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, train, and support a team of heavy equipment service technicians
- Schedule and coordinate repair and maintenance work for customer and internal jobs
- Dispatch mobile service trucks daily to customer locations
- Ensure high-quality, timely service that meets customer expectations
- Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Manage parts inventory and work closely with the parts department
- Maintain service records and track departmental metrics
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- Previous service management or lead technician experience strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of hydraulic, electric over hydraulic, and air over hydraulic systems
- Understanding of electrical theory and ability to read wiring schematics
- Familiarity with pneumatic systems and heavy equipment repair
- High mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Fabrication, welding, and Class 7/8 chassis experience a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
